ScramblingWhat's Scrambling? Well, for the purposes of the Kids Climbing site, when on real rock like scrambling it can be a good half-way house between indoor and outdoor climbing. Check out our Kid-Friendly Scrambles page. Scrambling grades start from a strenuous walk, right up to an easy (but sometimes exposed) climb that doesn't necessarily need ropes. Another way to describe it is a gradual introduction to outdoor rock, and usually less intimidating than actual outdoor climbing. Many scrambles however, have a real element of danger, and particularly young children need to be closely monitored. Make sure you and the kids are wearing something sensible on your feet like boots or sturdy trainers - wellies or flip-flops are not the best footwear for scrambling, and please be fully prepared for a mountain day. Know any scrambles which would be suitable for kids to climb? Contact us and we'll add them here. All these links open a new window. Close the window to return to this page.
